Hello friends and RN colleagues in Saskatchewan. I have decided to run for the SRNA council and hope that many people will become interested in the candidate profiles and that people will vote for council members to participate with the SRNA and RNs throughout the province. I feel strongly that RNs need to be involved and included in health issues that are facing citizens of Saskatchewan. The issues that I feel strongly about include the image of the Registered Nurse, lateral violence, patient safety, work-life balance, the science and art of nursing, and client centred care. I also am comfortable raising issues that have historically been accepted but not addressed, like lateral violence or bullying in the workplace. My experience in working locally, regionally, provincially, and nationally, have allowed me to develop a holistic and balanced approach to nursing and to issues affecting the clients that we work with and care for. My wish is to be more involved with the SRNA and bring voice and representation to council and to the association.
I want to thank my RN colleagues who have supported me and nominated me to have my name stand for member-at-large for SRNA council elections on May 5, 2010. Within the next two weeks the candidates’ brochure and ballot information will be sent to SRNA members, as well, all candidates’ brochure will be on the SRNA website. For your information, the ballot box will be closed at noon on May 5, 2010 at the annual meeting in Regina. The election results will be announced by the SRNA president at the end of the business portion of the annual meeting on May 5. I look forward to your participation in this process.
Please take an interest in the election process, send me your questions or concerns, and vote for Registered Nurses who will represent you and will raise issues, good or bad, that you have. I can be reached on my blog or via email.
